1. I have started teaching! I had my first day on October 5th. It was very overwhelming. The school system here is very different compared to home. It is not a good different or bad different, its simply "different". Once I got my my baring and a grip on everything, I really started to get into it. I quite enjoy teaching the Primary age level. I have mostly taught year 2, which is grade 2. They are a lot of fun. I think my favourite has been year 4 (grade 4) because they are very funny. They are also not too young or too old.
2. I have found a school that I really like!
Last week my agency sent me to an inner-city school. The children there were absolutely wonderful! They were just like the kids who I love to work with back home and I LOVED every moment of my day there! The school has requested me again for next Thursday after the break.
3. I have seen London! Two of my friends, Tania and Sara were just here visiting. Whilst they were here we toured all of London. I am going to post the photos at the end so you can see all the places we went to. In a couple of days Danielle will be here and we will also travel around. My top 5 favourite places in London are as follows:
i. Abbey Road!
ii. Camden Town market
iii. The flower market
iv. Oxford Street
v. The park near my house in Wanstead
I am going to continue exploring and I will keep you posted on other cool places to see.
4. I saw Wicked! Last night Jill, Jenna, and I went to see the London Production of Wicked! I have been waiting to see this show for ages! It was definitely worth the wait!
Now to conclude the update, I would like to share with you a series of questions the students always ask me when I get to their class:
1. " Miss, are you an American?" "no." "Well are you from... ( places have included Brazil, Thailand, Africa, and Lithuania)
2. "Miss, how old are you?"
3." Miss, does everyone in Canada actually play ice hockey?"
4. "Miss, are we your favourite class?"
5. " Miss, why do you drive on the wrong side of the road?"
6. "Miss, why are your stop lights so messed up?"
7. "Miss, why is the queen on your money too?"
The kids are always asking hilarious questions, and sometimes I have no idea how to answer hahaha but they always bring a smile to my face!
